“E. Cornaro” Institute was born in 1964 as a detached branch department of the Professional Business Institute in Venice; it has become autonomous since school year 1979/ 80 and it has changed into Hotel Institute since school year 1980/81, still keeping a large number of courses (Hotel, Restaurant, Business and Tourism). It is the only High School in Jesolo and trains qualified staff at different levels for the Tourism-Hotel field which is very important for the local economy and the greatest voice for the regional and national one.
The Institute is among the charter members of the Association of Hotel Institutes in Veneto region and of the Re.Na.I.A and it is part of school networks in eastern Veneto region. As AEHT member, the European Hotel and Tourism State Professional High Schools, it organized the 20th AEHT Annual Conference, held in Jesolo Lido ( Venice) from 16th to 21st October 2007.
Every school year, the Formative Offer Project (P.O.F.) includes some projects which develop and point out the aid abilities of the Institute in each formative field, improving its quality.
Within the cooperation project Italy-China “ Il Milione”, the Institute” E. Cornaro” keeps close relations with Jiangsu Tourism School.
It has twinned with State High School of Business and Restaurant Sciences in Szombathely ( Hungary) since 2005.
The Institute is the promoter of Leonard pilot project “ Orsa Minore” and partner of Leonard project “ Mobilità”. The Institute has offered evening courses for adult people who would like to re-enter the formative system (E.D.A courses) since 1998; besides it has been Test Center ECDL for ages.
In order to enrich school training with the acquisition of competences which can be usable in the working field, the Institute places side by side experimental routes of school-job alternation (ASL) and a simulated formative enterprise project ( IFS) to the professional “ Terza Area” and to the stages; this allows, at local level, excellent relationships of collaboration and interaction with the entrepreneurial world.
Within High Training, “ E. Cornaro” Institute has been identified as the leader of the Formative Pole I.F.T.S.,” the new sea jobs” for Business, Tourism and Transport fields. Together with different partners ( University, Research Centres, High Schools, Training Centres, entrepreneurial professional associations), the Institute has been able to invest in the planning of new professional figures so as to increase the value of the Venetian coast, its hinterland, the art cities, the cultural and eno-gastronomical routes.
Such activity has become a concrete reality by carrying out four routes IFTS; it is worth pointing out the course held in Jesolo at “E. Cornaro” Institute for “Restaurant Manager”and the one held in Venice for “High Technician for the organization and marketing of integrated tourism”.
The Institute is the leader of the Tourism Formative District ( Venice-Belluno) as well; it has been able to exploit the synergies coming from an enlarged partnership, sharing infrastructure, didactic instruments and competences in order to plan and carry out four formative levels, among which another IFTS course about marketing ( Expert in marketing and new technologies for hotels and travel agencies) just finished.
These are innovative answers to the needs of high professional competence of the sector enterprises which make training a driving force for the development of the territory tourism economy.
